Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Hey Mama PT is out-of-network with all insurance providers. This allows us to provide individualized care for each on of our patients that they deserve, not restricted by limiting insurance guidelines.

We will  provide you with the documents necessary for you to submit a claim on your own to your insurance company. Each insurance company is different and has different deductibles and out of network benefits. We encourage patients to get in contact with your insurance company to know the steps needed to file a claim. We cannot guarantee that you will be reimbursed but will do our best to help in any way that we can.

How is myofascial release different from other types of body work?

Myofascial release is a gentle form of releasing the fascial system via sustained gentle pressure and traction within the patient’s tolerance.  Our bodies know what they need to do, but soft tissue restrictions limit movement in our body and provide increase pressure to areas resulting in pain. Our PT sessions are heavily manual based, providing hands on treatment along with education on recommended activities to perform in between sessions. We believe body work combined with specific exercises and stretches yield lasting results.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, credit cards, debit cards, FSA and HAS. There is a 2.6% convenience fee when paying with a card.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable loose clothing or shorts and a sports bra are recommended to allow for direct skin on skin contact for treatment interventions and to allow you to move freely during exercises performed in session. Patients may choose to bring appropriate clothing to change into.

Do I need a referral to see a PT?

In the state of Texas, physical therapists are able to evaluate and treat a patient for up to 10  business days without a referral however after that point a referral is required. Basically, we can perform a PT evaluation without a referral, but will need one after 10 business days.

If you are planning on filing with  your insurance company, find out if they require a PT referral and from what type of practitioner in order to be eligible for reimbursement.

I just got my period! Do I need to cancel my PT appointment?

No need to cancel!  You can come to PT while on your period, we can definitely still perform a pelvic exam while you are menstruating.  You are in control! If you are uncomfortable with this, we can focus our session on an external exam and treatment. As we will discuss during our session, pelvic floor issues require a holistic, whole body approach.
